Earth

App Design (UX/UI)

Earth is a concept for a new app that aims to uncover and promote lesser-known destinations, artistic venues, and offbeat experiences that are not typically highlighted by mainstream travel platforms. It seeks to provide a platform for users to discover and share these hidden gems.

The Problem

The idea of “Earth” comes from the necessity of solving the problem of limited access to alternative and offbeat travel experiences for creative individuals.

Lack of visibility

Many unique destinations and experiences often go unnoticed by mainstream travel platforms.

Difficulty in finding people

It’s often difficult to connect with other individuals who share the same interests.

Overwhelming information

Researching and finding reliable information about less known destinations can be time-consuming and challenging.

Limited local insights

Travelers often struggle to access insider knowledge and recommendations from locals.

Objectives

Overall, the objectives of the app revolve around creating a platform that caters to specific interests of individuals who seek originality and authenticity within their travel experiences.

Promote hidden gems

Uncover lesser-known destinations, artistic venues, and offbeat experiences.

Foster a community

Build a community of like-minded individuals passionate about unique travel experiences.

Encourage authenticity

Facilitate authentic cultural experiences by promoting interactions with locals.

Curate suggestions

Provide users with unique itineraries, art-centric events, and other creative experiences.

Design Process

The process involved a few key stages. First, ideation and research to identify user needs and market gaps. Next, creating wireframes and hi-fi designs to visualize the app's layout and flow. User testing follows, gathering feedback to refine the design.

User Interviews

They involved one-on-one semi-structured conversations, where there were questions to users about their experiences, needs, and pain points related to their traveling planning experience.

Journey Map

The journey map was designed as visual representation of a user's interactions with a product. It outlined the user's experiences, including emotions, pain points, and touchpoints across different stages. The purpose of this journey map was to provide insights into user behavior, identify opportunities, and enhance the overall user experience by aligning it with user needs and expectations.

User Flow

The below user flow highlights the sequence of actions the user takes from entry to achieving their goal (reaching the homepage in this case). It was designed to help stakeholders and developers understand the user's interaction with the app showing entry points, steps/actions, decision points and end points.

Wireframes

The wireframes served as a blueprint for the app's structure and layout, helping to visualize the user interface and user experience.

Onboarding

The onboarding experience involved a seamless, engaging process. New users were greeted with a brief, visually appealing intro highlighting key features.
